All Roads lead to Kilmacow on Sunday Next

 

 

West Waterford athletes will open their cross country season on Sunday next
Sept 24 th at the St Senan’s Open Cross Country in Kilmacow X91 KaK3. The first
race is a1pm so we will meet up at 12noon to walk the course and warm up. The
races here are slightly shorter than they are in the county championships so this is
a good event to start off the cross country season. The following are the events.

 

Boys and Girls under 8 (born 2016) 300m
Boys and Girls under 9 (born 2015) 500m
Boys and Girls under 10(born 2014) 600m
Boys and Girls under 12(born 2013 &2012) 1000m
Boys and Girls under 14 (born 2011 &2010) 1500m
Boys and Girls under 16 (born 2009 &2008) 2000m
Boys and Girls under 18 (born 2007 &2006) 3000m Girls 4000m Boys
In the under 8,9 and 10 races it will be prizes for the first 10

 

From under 12 up it will be the first three individuals and the first three teams.
It is important to have as many athletes as possible in the under 12upwards so we
can compete in the team events.

 

Cross Country in Tramore

 

 

There was a cross country event in Tramore last Sunday. It was apity it was wasn’t
notified to the clubs as when I heard about it it was too late in the day to notify
everyone it was coming up. We had two athletes in action Mario Zakis had a good

run to finish 2 nd in the under 11race and his younger brother Andy was 4 th in the
under 9 race. Well done boys.

 

Munster Performance Squad

 

 

All our athlete who placed in the top 4 at the Munster Schools or Club
Championships should check out the link below and register for the
Performance squad.
Please see below the links for each squad in your region. Performance squad is for any
athlete who has placed top 4 in your event at your provincial championships or
provincial schools championships. Please check the list attached for all performance
squad athletes. Any athletes who feel they should be on the list and can provide
evidence, please email gracelynch@athleticsireland.ie.
The Development squad is for any registered AAI athlete aged 12 years – U 15 in the
2023 age groups. Exact timing, location and details of each squad will be emailed out
via the email provided upon registration. We hope you can join us at this years
provincial squads and looking forward to welcoming everyone- athletes, coaches and
parents / guardians.

There is a county board meeting in Waterford on Wed night next and after
that I should have all the dates and venues for the cross country fixtures.
