Munster Medals for Ava and Clodagh

Next it was on to the shot were Ava and Clodagh represented West Waterford. With only three throws everyone counted. Ava’s best throw of 6.m51 came in the second round and was enough to secure the silver medal. Clodagh had a huge personal best to earn the bronze medal. Throwing over six metres for the first time her throw of 6.25 was almost 90cms further than her throw in the Munsters earlier in the month.

Later in the day Clodagh took part in the Long Jump where she had a best of 3m40.

First Munster Championships for Richard Aherne

Richard Aherne was the only one fo our under 9 athletes to step up and tackle Munster Competition. He took part in the boys under 9 60m sprint and 300m and was very close to the medal positions in both. In the 60m he finished 2nd in his heat and qualified for the final with a time of 10.56. He improved that time in the final finishing 5th in 10.48. In the boys under 9 300m the first four all went under the 1min mark with Richard fourth in 58.25 and only one second separating the top four athletes.

Well done to our athletes Ava, Clodagh and Richard for representing their club at this event also well done to the coaches who prepared them for the event and the parents for travelling to the venue.
