Irish Athletes Dominate Isle of Man Race Walking Championships
Kate Veale was one of several Irish winners at the Isle of Man race walking championships, which were held last weekend.  Kate was an easy winner of the under17 3k walk in a time of 14.45.  She was just ahead of the boys under 15 winner Evan Lynch who won in a time of 14.57.  Evan is the son of Frances Lynch who was a race walker himself competing with Cappoquin/Ballinameale A.C. and with St Augustines College. Emma Prenderville of Farranfore Maine Valley won the under 17 girls 5k walk and Irish athletes also won the 2k walk and the 10k so it was a very successful outing for the Irish walking squad and a tribute to the great work being done by National Coach Michael Lane.
There was more good news for Kate this week as she was named the January winner of the combined Credit Unions athletics award. This award will be presented on Monday March 3rd.
