Busy weekend for Kate Veale
It was indeed a busy weekend for the Veale family.  On Saturday it was an early start as they headed to Nenagh for the All Ireland indoor finals where Kate was due to take part in the under 15 Walk final.  Also travelling with them was Joe Conway who was a finalist I the boy’s under17 walk.  Kate was due on track at 2pm and soon word filtered through that not only had she won but she had also broken the national record by 10 secs.  Kate took the lead from the gun and held a commanding lead throughout the race to come home a clear winner. Later we also heard that Joe had finished third in his race making it a very successful day all round. There then followed a lengthy wait until the presentation of medals. Soon they were on the road heading home where there was just about time for a quick change of clothes as they headed to Waterford where Kate was a finalist in the Credit Union Supreme Juvenile Athlete of the Year Awards. There followed a very enjoyable night at which international athlete Eamonn Coughlan presented each of the monthly winners with a memento.  Eamonn had some interesting word of wisdom to impart to the athletes parents and coaches.  There was also plenty of time for photos with all the finalists.  Well done to the combined Credit Unions for putting on such a great night for the athletes. It was a tired but excited Kate who headed home at the end of the night.

Training continues at 6pm on Wednesday and Friday at the Friary.
