wins Munster Schools Hill Running Event
competing for Dungarvan CBS was a surprise winner of the Senior Boys Event at the Munster Schools Hill Running Championships held in Millstreet last Wednesday. In the early part of the race he paced himself well and was in fourth position as the race proceeded up the steep hill he moved into second and eventually took over the lead in the downhill section to come home a comfortable winner. Earlier in the day Shona Curran was third in the senior girls and the Ard Scoi team of Shona, Elma Nugent, Niamh O’Riordan, Jenny Hurley and Emer Scanlan finished second in the team event. In the intermediate boys race Brian Hallissey showed he was back on form as he finished strongly to take fifth position and help the CBS to silver in the team event also scoring on the team were Tom Curran, Gavin Whelan and Declan Power. In the Junior Girls Edel Roche showed that she has made a huge improvement this year when finishing fourth and leading the Ard Scoil to second in the team event.
