West Waterford Juveniles Get to Grips with busy schedule

The athletics season started in earnest this week with events on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Despite the rain earlier in the week the weather kept fine for all three events. Even on the warmest day in summer there is always a cold breeze on the track in Waterford so having fine weather is a big plus for the athletes and also for the officials who stand for hours officiating at these events.

Big Crowds and exciting finishes at Primary School Sports

On Thursday the youngsters from the big schools were in action for their heats. With places at stake in the western final the athletes were prepared to give their all for the glory of their school.  There were some very close and exciting finishes particularly in the relays.  Schools will be notified of their qualifiers for the finals.  Next week it is the turn of the smaller schools to run their heats.  Once again we expect large numbers so come early if you want to park in the Friary.  Line up starts at 6.15 and the first race will be under way at 6.30.  We will not wait for latecomers as we need to start on time to ensure we are finished before dark.
